Mom $$$ tips
Here is a summary of the great tips from our moms for stretching your dollars in ‘09
*Limit trips to Wal-mart to once or twice a month and HAVE A LIST!
*Deep freezers are great for storing bulk meat and extra meals you have prepared.
* Stock up on essentials at places like Save-a-Lot, Dollar Tree, Discount Foods, etc.
*The slow cooker is great for saving money — and dinner’s ready when you walk in the door.
*Be creative with the items you purchase and try to stretch them over a couple of meals.
*Bi-Lo is great for their weekly BOGO specials. Clip coupons online and in the newspaper — Bi-Lo offers double coupons.
*Having a weekly menu plan and a list are essential.
*Try to have a “poor man’s meal” once a week with beans, rice and cornbread. It is easy to prepare, cheap and filling.
*Eat fruit for dessert.
*Make your dryer sheets last longer by cutting them in half. A half sheet works just as well as a whole one.

Let’s Eat!
A home cooked meal is great, but not having to cook or clean up is a nice treat too! So, to go along with our January resolution for getting the most for our money…
What are some great dining ”deals” in the ‘boro?
For example:
Every Wednesday, kids eat for .99 at Applebees. Are there other deals around town? Let us know.

New Year, New Goals
January 1… almost everyone does it….
NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS
Whether it’s to lose weight, start exercising, or to get organized, someone else has made the same resolution. One of the great things about MOMS Club is talking to other moms who have been there/done that. There is always something new to learn from one another, so each month we’ll focus on a goal and give tips on how to achieve that goal.
This month’s goal is:
“To Stretch the Household Budget” / “To Stay Within a Budget”.
What do you do to help your dollar go farther? Do you create weekly menus? Do you only use cash? What are you doing to get the most for your money? Let us know. Leave a comment and check back for others’ responses.
